Today, our Bangor team had the pleasure of meeting Wally and Emily from The Toned Out Project — a nonprofit dedicated to first responder wellness. Their mission is simple yet vital: to make mental-health support accessible for the people who protect our communities every day. Through counseling scholarships, travel assistance, and peer-support training, they’re creating a culture where seeking help is seen as a strength, not a weakness.
The Toned Out Project was founded by two licensed clinicians, Dr. Emily Genever and Dr. Wally Fraser, who saw firsthand how stress and trauma impact first responders. Their work removes barriers to care and provides confidential, judgment-free support. As one veteran officer shared, “This job is really death by a thousand cuts… but projects like this help us remember we’re not alone.”
Another first responder added, “It took other people telling me I was being affected for me to realize I needed help. Having a resource that understands our world makes all the difference.” These stories remind us why organizations like The Toned Out Project are so essential — and why we’re honored to stand behind them.
Quirk Auto Group is proud to support their incredible mission through our annual employee giving program, where staff from across our Bangor dealerships contribute part of their holiday bonuses to local organizations making a difference in Maine. This collective effort reflects our shared belief in giving back to those who serve our communities every day.
