Quirk Auto Group is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with St. Joseph Hospital as the Presenting Sponsor of the annual Commit to Community event in Bangor. Held each September, this signature community race brings together families, athletes, volunteers, and supporters with one shared purpose: raising critical funds for St. Joseph Hospital’s Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) program, which provides 24/7, trauma-informed care for survivors of violence and abuse.
This year marked the 7th Annual Commit to Community event — and it was the largest one yet. A remarkable 1,013 total participants took part, including 862 registrants and 151 volunteers who helped make the day possible. From energetic kids navigating the obstacle course to runners tackling the 5K and 10K routes, the enthusiasm and community spirit were on full display.
Quirk Auto Group and Quirk Chevrolet Bangor were honored to stand alongside 66 sponsors who collectively contributed $197,415 to support the mission. The impact of this event continues to grow year after year. Over the last three years alone, Commit to Community has raised an extraordinary $643,000 for the SAFE program. Since its inception in 2019, the event has generated an impressive $1,069,000 in total support — ensuring survivors have access to specialized medical treatment, forensic care, and compassionate follow-up resources during their most vulnerable moments.
The SAFE program remains one of Maine’s most essential services, offering around-the-clock care through highly trained forensic nurses. These professionals provide medical treatment, collect critical evidence, and connect survivors with advocacy, counseling, and long-term support. Community-driven events like Commit to Community ensure this care remains accessible and sustainable for those who rely on it.
